What Does Self Care Mean to You?
I took this week off from work. I was so excited as I was having a stay cation and was going to catch up on all the things around the house that I had been unable to do.
What was hard and what I was feeling guilty about was that I had absolutely zero motivation to do much of anything. I was just so tired.
And I felt so guilty about it.
I made a post about feeling guilty about taking time to rest and it garnered an overwhelming response.
So many of us feel the same way!
This prompted me to start a conversation around Self Care and what it means to you. Also, to encourage you to make daily self care a part of your annual goals.
I think it is important to define what self care means to you.
Here are some examples of what self-care looks like for me:
- Make my bed every morning
- Get dressed for work every day
- Daily movement. Even a 15 minute walk in the morning can help my mood and give me energy
- Take a lunch break every day. I have this booked in my calendar as "F**cking Eat Renee"
- Morning meditation-I love my Daily Jay
- Keep taking supplements that I need so that my body has what it needs to function
- Take a 15 minute "nap" in the afternoon. Step away from your work and rest and breathe
- Take 1 extra long weekend per month and plan something that allows me to feel rejuvenated and relaxed
- Sit and read a book
- Spend time with the people I love and be fully present (not stuck on my phone)
- If you are tired, sleep
- When I need to get out of a funk and get energised I blast some pump up music and dance in the kitchen. I call it my Tiny Dance Party.
Let me know how you can start incorporating self care into your daily life. Make it a priority!
Let's keep this discussion going!
